Fun Time is Over
Well folks, I can almost taste the convention center. Which isn’t as gross as it sounds. But PAX West isn’t here quite yet, so lets all bide our time with the Nintendo Download for 8/20/26! There’s some great featured titles, music, sassy apes, a publisher sale and more to enjoy this week. But let’s start with a collection that will make you want to scream “SNAKE!”
Mission Snake-possible
Back when I had Sony home consoles, I really enjoyed Metal Gear Solid. I was hooked on the PS1 game and its sequel, and then I completely dropped the series. Not for any particular reason, it just happened. But now I’m in luck, since Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is on its way, and it comes packed with Guns of the Patriots, Peace Walker, Ghost Babel and a bunch of digital art and music. If you prefer more fantastical gaming, you’ll probably want to check out Elden Ring Tarnished Edition.
That’s not all for featured titles this week, though. If you’re eager for insanity, try Funguys Swarm and Ground Zero Hero. Or slash through the competition in Grim Trials. If you’re a fan of goofy physics, try Wobbly Life. Last but not least, for a truly memorable adventure, try 1000xRESIST on Switch 2. Next up, a few promotions directly from Nintendo.

Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC Event – Lagoon Dash – Make a splash in the newest monthly limited-time event in the Donkey Kong Bananza game’s DK Island & Emerald Rush paid DLC2! From Aug. 25 at 1 a.m. PT to Sept. 1 at 12:59 a.m. PT, players can glide across Lagoon Layer and complete challenges for an opportunity to collect statues of Zebra Bananza and Winky.
Hooo Likes Shmups?
DK Challenge – There’s only a couple of weeks left to participate in this limited-time event celebrating all things Donkey Kong! From now until 12:59 a.m. PT on Sept. 1, Nintendo Switch 2 players with an active Nintendo Switch Online membership can take on challenges across Donkey Kong Bananza and several NES, Super NES and Game Boy games featuring Donkey Kong available with Nintendo Classics. By completing them, you can earn and enjoy collectible digital Challenge Cards. Plus, eligible players in the U.S. who complete all challenges can receive a collectible 39-card set with card case, featuring cards inspired by both the Donkey Kong Bananza game and classic Donkey Kong adventures.
