Kenny McKee

Starting out with nothing more than a Game Boy and a copy of Donkey Kong Land, Kenny has happily been gaming for almost his entire life. Easily-excitable and a bit on the chatty side, Kenny has always been eager to share gaming-related thoughts, opinions, and news with others and has been doing so on Hey Poor Player since 2014 and has previously worked with both PKMNcast and SCATcast. Although his taste in gaming spreads across a wide number of companies and consoles, Kenny holds a particular fondness for Nintendo handheld consoles. He is also very proud of his amiibo collection. You can also find him on Twitter @SuperBayleef talking about video games and general nonsense. Some of his favorite games include Tetris Attack, Pokémon Black Version 2, The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, Yo-kai Watch, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Mega Man X, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (among many others).

Star Renegades Review (PC)

Futility has Never Been so Fun     It’s been a while since I’ve come across a game that ended up in the same way that Star Renegades has. I’ve spent countless hours over the past few weeks learning the ropes, strategizing, and, of course, dying a lot. Normally…

Adventures of Pip Review (Switch)

Cheerio!     It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to sit down with a basic platformer. I suppose that isn’t necessarily a bad thing; highly technical platformers, like Mega Man or Shovel Knight, are an absolute blast, and Metroidvanias are essentially my gaming lifeblood. But that doesn’t mean…

Witcheye Review (Switch)

She Got the Moon in Her Eye     Everyone enjoys a classic story of heroism from time to time, myself being no exception. Complex narratives can be great, sure, but sometimes all you want is an easy-to-follow tale of a powerful wizard sending a brave knight through many…

Re:Turn – One Way Trip Preview (PC)

Burning the Midnight Oil Coal     It’s been a long time since I had the pleasure of playing a good 2D side-scroller horror game. Or any 2D side-scrolling horror game. They’re not very common. And, considering that they have games like Clock Tower/The First Fear to live up to in terms of…

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? – Infinite Combate Review…

Emphasis on “Finite”     Anime-inspired video games tend to get a bad rap. While it’s easy to find people excited to play a game inspired by a show that they love, you’ll also find plenty of detractors that sometimes equal or surpass the number of actual supporters. Personally,…

Death end re;Quest 2 Review (PS4)

An Ever-Unraveling World     Being objective kind of sucks sometimes. Death end re;Quest 2 has got to be some of the most fun that I’ve had with a Compile Heart/Idea Factory game in a long time. It was intriguing, shockingly grotesque, and ended up drawing me into its…
