No Need To Dread This Release

During today’s Nintendo Direct, perhaps the biggest reveal of the day was that Metroid Prime 4 won’t be the last game in the series to hit the Switch 2. Metroid Ravenous is coming, and fans won’t have to wait long.

This looks to be a direct follow-up to Metroid Dread, which released in 2021 from the team at Mercury Steam. There’s no word yet on if that is the case with this follow-up, but it certainly seems likely. We watch Samus stranded once again on a lone planet, but this time she’s been seriously injured and doesn’t have much hope for survival. That seems to change when she decides to use a new ability to feed on her foes, absorbing their energy in order to regain her strength.

The look and feel of this game has a lot of similarity to Dread while taking on perhaps an even darker tone. That last game was defined by Samus being hunted but this time it seems she may be more the hunter.

Fans of the series won’t have to wait terribly long. Metroid Ravenous is set to release January 28th, 2027. It will release with a special edition which comes with an Amiibo and several other Metroid themed Amiibo as well. Check out the first trailer for this one below.
