Getting Physical: Moonstone Island DE is One Must-Catch Collectable

An Unbelievable Monster Collector Adventure

Moonstone Island | Wrapped

I’ve had the privilege of covering a lot of great physical editions courtesy of Super Rare Games in my ongoing Getting Physical segment. By far one of the coolest ones was the Deluxe Edition of Cassette Beasts. But today, even that amazing collectable has been outdone by the Moonstone Island Deluxe Edition.

This Deluxe Edition instantly lives up to that description. It’s about 4 times the size of a standard edition, in a cardboard outer box larger than my laptop. There were flaps I had to carefully remove on the sides, and then pulling a tab opened things up. From there I carefully removed a bubble wrap sheath, which brought me to the good stuff.

Moonstone Island | Stickerbook

Moonstone Island DE comes in an attractive clamshell box that holds everything else in tidy compartments. The first layer was a stickerbook, complete with illustrations and information about the adventure, and bound like a notebook.

Next up is the game itself, and below that was something unexpected – a certificate! While some might be tempted to sign their name, I like keeping things as pristine as possible.

The next layer is full of other goodies, both expected and unexpected. While every physical edition from Super Rare Games comes with a trading card pack, this one had two! One was the more traditional one, and the other was as if Moonstone Island was reimagined as a TCG in the style of Pokémon. Not only was that unique, but they’re very glossy and eye-catching.

Moonstone Island | Regular Cards

As for the cards I got, there were more than usual for the regular pack, which included Wildwood, Tidan, Snapdragon, Sparking and two versions of a shadowy hand monster. For the TCG-inspired pack, I got Armbot, Hygge, Fishbo, Beardini and Fluffox.

Another great extra was a keychain charm. It’s a monster from the game called Fishbo. Not only is the design hilarious, but it fondly reminds me of the absurd adventures of Earthworm Jim.

Moonstone Island | Box Open

All that is great, but it always comes down to the game itself. And the physical game box is very colorful and well animated. It’s cheery and energetic, and the manual itself is also memorable. Inside you’ll find tons of details about the characters and monsters featured in Moonstone Island.

Now, it’s one thing to hear about a great physical edition, but you probably want a chance to own this yourself. If so, you’re in luck! Because the Moonstone Island Deluxe Edition still has some stock available via the Super Rare Games store. Just keep in mind this is a very fancy collectable, so it’s going to cost more than a standard edition. If you’re undeterred, I’d act quickly, since once they’re out of stock, there won’t be any more of this gorgeous edition for sale.

Moonstone Island | Open 2

Honestly, this sort of physical edition is why I love being a gamer. Sure, digital editions are fine, but I feel you don’t really own something unless you can hold it in your hands. So stay tuned to HPP for more epic collectables courtesy of Super Rare Games!
