Nintendo Download for 1/19/23

Feline the Call to Adventure

Nintendo Download | UnderDungeon

Well folks, the Nintendo Download for 1/19/23 proves that the third time is indeed the charm. I’ve been perplexed by a lack of featured titles the past two Downloads, but that ends today in epic fashion. Not only do we get three different featured titles this week (see a pattern yet?), but all three are potentially fantastic RPGs! I say potentially because I have yet to try one of them, but can attest the other two are amazing. Besides that, there’s the typical sales and digital goodies. But let’s start things off with one of my most anticipated tactical RPGs of the new year.

Nintendo Download | Fire Emblem Engage

I’ve been a gigantic fan of Fire Emblem since it finally came West in the Game Boy Advance era. The series has continued to evolve and grow more vast and complex over the years. While not every entry has been equally amazing, and there’s even been a couple stinkers, overall it’s a wonderful series that has provided hundreds of hours of entertainment. The last game, Three Houses, was especially fantastic. So of course I’m very excited to pick up Fire Emblem Engage this week. Though none of us know much about the game yet, specifically how it differentiates itself from recent entries, I’m cautiously optimistic. After all, the fact you can apparently summon the spirits of fallen legendary warriors to aid you in battle sounds really cool. Throw in some god-like dragons and hopefully we’ll have another incredible adventure. But that’s far from all this week! Two iconic entries from the Persona series are finally playable on the Nintendo Switch. Not only does that include Persona 3 Portable (I played the PS2 version), but it also means starting today fans can play Persona 4 Golden on the Switch! If that wasn’t enough, you can buy both games in a bundle for a slightly discounted price. If you enjoy RPGs at all, you owe it to yourself to own both those games on your favorite giant handheld. Next up, let’s continue this reinvigorated Nintendo Download with a special publisher sale.
