Sony have been teasing an early 2023 launch for the PlayStation VR2 for some time now and today they finally revealed when players will be able to get their hands on it. The PlayStation VR 2 is set to launch February 22nd, 2023 for $549.99.
That’s certainly not a low barrier to entry. Their VR headset will cost more than the system itself. Still, those who are excited for the next generation of VR will certainly line up to pay it. The question is how many people are part of that group and whether this is a price that Sony can use to sell the system to the masses.
The launch day bundle will include stereo headphones and the two controllers that the system will use. A bundle with launch title Horizon Call of the Mountain will also release on launch day for $599.99. Sony also revealed a variety of games expected to launch with the system today. While the list includes a lot of titles already available on VR platforms, its nice to know some of what players will be able to check out on this expensive new hardware. Those games include The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR, Crossfire: Sierra Squad, The Light Brigade, Cities VR – Enhanced Edition, Cosmonious High, Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue, Jurassic World Aftermath Collection, Pistol Whip VR, Zenith: The Last City, After the Fall, and Tentacular. You can find a full breakdown of these games on the PlayStation Blog.
