New Real-Time Experience from J.J. Abrams
Today’s Silent Hill transmission unveiled another interesting game titled Silent Hill: Ascension. This project will directly allow fans to interact with the experience in real-time, taking inspiration from livestreaming! The developers really want to induce the “feeling of being scared together.” There will also be no reset button, so outcomes and choices made can shape the canon of future content for the series. It’s unclear what the exact structure of this game is currently, but expect us to keep up to date with the latest news in the following months.
There’s a plethora of creative minds behind this new announcement, including director J.J. Abrams, Genvid, Bad Robot Games, Behavior, and DJ2 Entertainment. Jacob Navok, the CEO of Genvid, explains that Ascension will be a new type of Silent Hill experience, and be an interactive series that allows fans to watch and decide on the narrative together. Judging from the studios involved, you can probably expect this project to be some sort of interactive movie/game hybrid. The website for the entire project is up, so take a look at yourself!
There is currently no release date for Silent Hill: Ascension other than a generic 2023 time window. No platforms have been announced either. Check out the official teaser trailer below:
