In It For the Long Haul
No Man’s Sky sees its newest update breathing some new life into the freighters this time around, literally in this case. On top of seeing a lot of small quality of life improvements over the aging freighter system, we’ll be seeing their organic equivalents show up, tentacles and all.
A lot of freighter components are getting some enhancements. Teleporters from the hangar to the command center, glass hallways and exterior platforms, and a crew that can wander around freely are just a few of the features included. There’ll be themed rooms, like in-ship grow rooms, and you’ll also be able to see some of the newer civilian freighters coming with pre-built bases.
One of the bigger additions to this update are the organic freighters. They’ll function exactly like their metallic counterparts, plus a few tentacles here and there. You can send these organic freighters out on expeditions so you can upgrade any organic starships you might have.
This new update will also see a new Expedition called Polestar showing up, advertising an interstellar cruise with a bit of mystery behind it. There’s a list of little additions here as well, like asteroid fields getting color reworks and spacing changes, changing up the exhaust trails on your freighter’s engines, and the ability to teleport directly to your fleet’s individual ships for repairs.
You can see the full list of fun additions and changes in the official No Man’s Sky post here. The update is already live, so get your updates done and your freighters kitted out!
