Heat Up Your July with Nintendo Download
Well guys and gals, I won’t lie. The Nintendo Download for 7/7/22 is a bit on the short and sweet side of things. There’s only a couple featured titles, some limited promotions and the typical sales. But don’t let that deter you, because the games included are pretty great looking. So let’s start with a collection that absolutely shouldn’t be relegated to digital only in the West.
The Stuff Dreams Are Made of…
Back in the heady days of my childhood, I really loved my PlayStation and PlayStation 2. And while I played a lot of RPGs and other genres on both systems, I always came back to cute and entertaining platformers. After all, I grew up with Mario and Mega Man, so I can’t really escape that genre. And one series that captivated me was Klonoa. It’s one of the most Japanese platformers from that period of time, and thanks to the Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series collection, you can experience the original game and the sequel in one handy package. The downside, as I mentioned above, is that there’s no physical version of the collection, at least not in the West. The best you can do is order the english language version from a site like Play-Asia. But for those that don’t want to bother paying for the shipping and the inconvenience, it’s definitely a missed opportunity. The other featured title is one I’m far less familiar with, but it still looks interesting. It’s called Time on Frog Island, and it mixes adventure, platforming and puzzle solving elements. So long as you’re not against lots of complicated fetch quest trading, this might be your game.
We’re almost done with this portion of the Nintendo Download, but first a couple promotions. Firstly, if you enjoy art, you can redeem some points to get cool Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak wallpapers. Or if you want something a bit more substantive, there’s a Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Game Trial available from today until July 12th. All you need to participate is a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Now let’s continue things with some Game Guide sales.
Scrounge Some Savings
First up, if you enjoy platformers with wild titles, you might enjoy Clan O’Conall and the Crown of the Stag for a mere $5.24. For a fascinating puzzle experience, try Goetia 2 for $6.69. Or for a unique RPG, try Unsouled for $9.59. To get retro with a vengeance, try Breakneck City for $6.99. And for a disturbing horror experience, try Lamentum for $7.99.
Rise and Fall
How about some more sales? For a crazy ride with a notorious group, try Rogue Lords for $17.49. To swing through the forest, there’s Gibbon: Beyond the Trees for $11.99. For a tactical card-driven game made by the mind behind Magic the Gathering, try Roguebook for $17.49. Or to blow away hideous zombies, try The House of the Dead: Remake for $19.99. Finally, to get your fix for something strange, try Dungeon Munchies for $11.04. Now let’s close out this Nintendo Download with some new digital games!
The Road Less Traveled
While there’s not much in the way of retro, the closest this week is called SuperDuck! If you prefer zooming around the track, try Formula Bit Racing DX. If you enjoy co-op crazy, try Color Breakers. For games with lots of shooting action, try these – Road of Death, Super Rebellion and ZIC: Zombie in City. Puzzle fans can try Japanese NEKOSAMA Escape The Local Train, Moonrise Fall and Understand. Rogue fans might enjoy Overrogue. And platformer fans can try the following – amazin’ Lumo, F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch and Krut: The Mythic Wings.
