Summer is in Full Swing in Teyvat!
Greetings Travelers! The 2.8 Livestream is over, and we have a good load of summer-themed goodies to take a look at, so let’s dig right in!
First of all, here are the Primogem codes featured in the livestream!
The Golden Apple Archipelago is making its grand return! Some of you that were around last year will remember this place, as it was the first debut for the Waverider and the first time an area in Genshin was time-locked. Well, the time has rolled back around, and the Golden Apple Archipelago’s gone through a few changes in the past year! Four main characters will be focused on for this adventure: Fischl, Kazuha, Xinyan, and Mona.
Before we get into that, though, the first thing announced is Kazuha’s new story quest, Acer Palmatum Chapter: Act 1, which will be debuting in 2.8.
Next, we have the official announcement of Shikanoin Heizou, a young detective from the Tenryou Commission and the very first male Catalyst user!
He’ll be striking hard and fast as his Anemo Catalyst lets him use his hands and feet as his weapons. If you’re a fan of getting up close and personal to beat down the enemy, he’ll be a must-have. He’ll also be having a Hangout Event in 2.8 to go with his arrival.
Going with that news, we have the banner lineup for 2.8, with Kazuha making his long-awaited return after a full year of absence, with Heizou joining him front and center. Yoimiya and Klee will also be receiving reruns, so if you want some Pyro support, you’ll want to start saving your Primogems now.
Speaking of heat, the next thing we’ll be looking at will be focused on Xinyan and her unique musical domain that will be part of the Summertime Odyssey event.
The challenges in her domain are tailored to using “instruments” scattered around the challenge sections that can cause different effects. Some might cause wind currents and increase plunge damage, others can cause cones of shockwave damage. This is just one domain challenge of the Summertime Odyssey event, so expect to see more on the others once 2.8 drops. We can see the rewards for the Summertime Odyssey in full as well down below.
The return of the Golden Apple Archipelago wouldn’t be complete without some surfing fun. The Waverider can be used for a sailing minigame called Surfpiercer.
It’s a semi-simple race to the finish, where you collect green orbs along the way that charge up a ramming ability that can take down destructible barriers and give you a speed boost.
There’ll be another challenge event for 2.8 as well called Reminiscent Regimen.
This one will be co-op specific, so you’ll need to bring a buddy with you for this. There’ll be a multitude of missions you can take on for this event, all co-op focused, from defending rafts to racing down descending platforms.
Another little event that’ll be showing up in 2.8 is Resonating Visions, which sees a return of the Echoing Conches!
Around the map, there’ll be little seashells called Echoing Conches where you can listen to bits and pieces of stories. Find all the conches to see these stories in full and also unlock the free seasonal skin for Fischl!
Diluc will also be receiving a new skin as well that you’ll be able to see in the image for the next event, Hidden Strife. Unlike previous costumes, this actually is considered a 5-Star costume, coming with its own idle animation unique to it.
Hidden Strife itself will feature Diluc and the Dawn Winery as a threat from the past returns. You’ll be able to do some challenges that’ll let you see Diluc and his new costume in action. The challenges this time around will be similar to the Phantom Flow event from a while back, where completing objectives will unlock special buffs you can use in the challenges for this event.
Next up, we get another change to play with machinery!
A traveler from the Court of Fontaine is needing a little help with something called the Evermotion Mechanical Painting. The whole trick to these is getting all your cogs in order, spinning where they need to.
You’ll need to line up the cogs in each challenge according to their size and placement. Later challenges will have you need to pay attention to multiple levels.
While I’d normally say that’s all for this livestream, there was one last teaser that was showed at the very end, giving us our first official look at Sumeru, as well as a little narration from what could very well be Kusanali, the Dendro Archon! We had covered an extensive list of leaks from Sumeru not too long ago, and to see Sumeru actually showing up in the livestream definitely has the hype train going full steam ahead.
Okay, now we’re done! You can check out the livestream in full below.
