Coming to Switch and PC
Over the last few years it feels like farming simulations have gone from a niche genre to one that we almost have a glut of. Still, I’m always interested when a new one is announced and Harvestella definitely stands out from many of these games.
Unlike most of the genre, Harvestella is a full 3D title that looks more like a modern RPG than a traditional farming title, even if the trailer below shows off plenty of crafting and farming that would be right at home in Rune Factory or Stardew Valley.
The world of Harvestella is balanced by four crystals, known as the Seaslight. These keep the four seasons stable, but when things start to go wrong with them the seasons are no longer in control. This creates a new season, known as the Quietus, the season of death. This kills crops and makes it dangerous to venture outside. Worse, the Quietus seems to be getting longer.
While combat isn’t unheard of in the genre, Harvestella looks to have a more in depth battle system than most similar titles. There’s even a full job system, with classes such as fighter, mage, and shadow walker available to help you fight your way through the game. I’m definitely intrigued by Harvestella and we won’t have to wait long to see if that intrigue turns into more. It is set to release on Nintendo Switch and PC November 4th. It is available for pre-order on Steam now.
