Free To Play Overwatch
Overwatch fans have been waiting for any news on the confusing sequel to the popular hero shooter. We got some big news today during Microsoft’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. Overwatch 2 will launch October 4th in early access.
What exactly that means is hard to say until we really understand what Overwatch 2 is. It’s sort of a sequel, with new characters, new maps, and new modes. All of this will be available in an update to the original game though and while a purchase may be needed for some cosmetics, everyone will be playing together. Even new players will be able to jump in as Overwatch 2 is now announced as a free to play title, a big change for the series.
Will the other parts of the game, such as the player vs enemy portion previously announced, be available October 4th? Hard to say but I wouldn’t bet on it. What does seem like it will be there though is the newly announced Junker Queen character. Check out a trailer for Overwatch 2 below. Fans on Xbox, PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch will all be able to enjoy crossplay and cross progression later this year.
