Zenless Zone Zero Goes Live With Website and Tuning Test Beta Application
It didn’t take long at all to get the ball rolling with Zenless Zone Zero, with a new website live and a brand new trailer front and center. While details on the upcoming game are still a bit sparse, we’re getting a good look at the action, characters, and more and getting our chance to sign up for the beta.
We’ll start off looking at the trailer, shown below.
Interestingly, the characters shown are showcased in groups, with one group of four, a group of three, and two groups of two, all seemingly allied by faction.
In combat, their abilities vary wildly and seemingly go by an elemental system judging by how emphasized the elements are per character. It looks like there are electric, ice, and fire powers shown so far, but the jury’s out on if that’s set in stone or just part of the characters. Seeing three different characters using what looks like fire powers makes me lean more towards a type of elemental system, though.
The weapons are definitely some of the standout parts here. In addition, there are some fascinating tools available, from what appears to be a battering ram made of rebar to a flaming buzzsaw on a stick. The character designs are rather striking as well. Despite having an abundance of steel grays and neutral whites/blacks, the addition of various reds and blues gives an interesting sort of industrial feel with colorful flourishes.
The enemy designs have some strangeness about them, but the stoney hides and nuclear waste green highlights are pretty eye-catching. I am still unsure what those things are, but their over designs and statures remind me of industrial-grade Honkai Beasts.
Last but not least, we see two characters at the end with similar, somewhat neutral designs that make me wonder if they’ll be Zenless Zone Zero’s main characters, in a similar vein to Genshin Impact’s Traveler. Only time will tell, but just what was shown in this trailer is already pretty wild and interesting. Still not sure if there’ll be gacha mechanics for this one, but with MiHoYo’s history, it’s pretty likely it will have some semblance of them.
Now that the fascinating video is out of the way, let’s take a little gander at the website. While still basic, it does provide something of great importance: Beta Sign-Ups. So get signed up while you can, folks. I don’t know how long or how much space is left, but you don’t want to miss out on this one.
Scrolling down the page, you’ll see a few other highlights, like character images, news, and a little bit of lore. For example, one of the game features segments mentions “fighting through changing labyrinths,” making me believe this may have procedurally generated levels. Best to check out the site for yourself here and sign up for notifications via social media when you get the chance.
For now, though, that’s all we got, but stay tuned for more of the latest Zenless Zone Zero news!
