So much to do, so little time!
Austrian indie studio Ghost Pattern has announced during today’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase that its inaugural title, Wayward Strand, will be releasing later this Summer.
Taking inspiration from the concept of the interactive theatre, Wayward Strand follows the story of 14-year-old aspiring journalist Casey on her first trip aboard a flying ship-turned-hospital. However, while that in itself might be exciting enough for most people to write about (it certainly would be for me!), Casey feels as though there are more mysteries onboard—and she’s eager to uncover as many as she’s able.
Wayward Strand aims to present itself in a way that will allow itself to be guided entirely by the player’s curiosity. With over 20,000 lines of voiceover dialogue to listen to and multiple storylines playing out in real-time, you’re not going to be able to do everything at once. Because of this, players will be forced to consistently make important choices on the fly while deeming which mysteries are—and are not—important.
Wayward Strand is slated to make its maiden voyage on Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox X|S, Xbox One X, and PC via Windows later this Summer on July 21, 2022. Will you be stepping aboard this ship-turned hospital alongside Casey when it takes off? What are you looking forward to most? Let us know in the comments below!
