Galactic Civilizations IV leaves Early Access to reign over the cosmos
Those vying for interstellar domination are in luck. Galactic Civilizations IV, the latest installment in Stardock’s award-winning 4X strategy sandbox game series, has officially left Early Access.
The follow-up to 2015’s Galactic Civilizations III, this latest installment introduces a number of new features, such as the addition of internal factions, sprawling, multi-sector maps to explore, and new ways to shape your civilization’s destiny mid-game by issuing policies and executive orders. Citizens, first introduced in Galactic Civilizations III, have also been further fleshed out. If one of your governors becomes unhappy with your leadership, they may even secede from your empire and form their own rival colonies. Add to this the addition of Galactic Achievements, which offer prestige points that offer a new path to victory while cutting down on the grind, and it seems Galactic Civilizations IV does plenty to spice up the series established formula.
“Galactic Civilizations IV is the result of years of thinking about the exciting innovations that have been occurring in strategy games,” said Brad Wardell, Stardock CEO in a press release distributed today. “We want to give players the ultimate turn-based strategy experience, and we’ve accomplished this by adding in tons of new features that add to the depth and scope of the game while incorporating feedback over several alpha and beta testing phases.”
