Harvest the Undead in DEADCRAFT This May
I admit, I’ve been intrigued by DEADCRAFT since it was first teased. We didn’t know much about it then, but today we can reveal a bunch more as it makes the global debut at PAX East. Published by XSEED / Marvelous, DEADCRAFT mixes the simulation / farming genre with frenetic ARPG combat. You play a human / zombie hybrid named Reid, and you’re on a quest for vengeance. Using your zombie powers you can harvest and grow zombie minions to fight for you, as well as creating insane traps and weapons. It’s utterly crazy looking, and exactly the sort of style I enjoy most from XSEED Games.
Here’s the really good news about DEADCRAFT – it’s coming to pretty much everything on May 19th! That includes Steam, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series X|S. Though if you’re lucky enough to be at PAX East right now, you can try the event-exclusive demo at Booth #11061 in the Expo Hall. Or if you’re not there, you can still try out another free demo of the game on all platforms starting today.
Developed by Marvelous’ First Studio (who made DAEMON X MACHINA), DEADCRAFT is slated to sell for $24.99 for the regular version, or $39.99 for the Digital Deluxe version, which has some spicy DLC thrown in for good measure. And if you pre-purchase the game starting today, you can get 10% off the regular version and 15% off the Digital Deluxe. Plus, knowing XSEED, they’ll likely have physical editions on most consoles at some later point.
Here’s some quick highlights from the game:
- Farm the Dead to Stay Alive ‒ Plant fresh corpses (or just a combination of limbs) into the ground and give them a little TLC until they sprout into an undead army of infantry, sentries, and more!
- Creeptastic Crafting ‒ Surviving the apocalypse sometimes means using whatever scraps one can find to make new weapons. Other times it means enlisting a loyal undead to assist in building and running an entire factory of grotesque machinery churning out an unholy amalgamation of survival items.
- Death-Defying Powers of the Undead ‒ Reid’s zombie side gives him a powerful advantage in a fight, allowing him to shield himself from danger or swat enemies away like annoying gnats. But as each devoured enemy pushes him closer to his zombie side, he’ll have to take care to maintain what little humanity he has left.
- Become a Savior…or a Scourge ‒ Help out other survivors to learn new recipes or abilities. But if Reid’s hard up for money or supplies, shake down a local and take it off them…as long as he doesn’t mind potentially becoming a wanted man.
If you’re intrigued by the mixture of farm sim and apocalyptic mayhem, you can see more in the DEADCRAFT trailer below. And stay tuned to HPP for our upcoming coverage from PAX East!
