Let’s Get Mental
If you love absurd games in strange new forms, you’ll smile today. The latest Serious Sam game, Serious Sam: Tormental, finally blasted its way out of Steam Early Access. But unlike most entries in the series, Tormental eschews FPS action for top-down, rogue-lite mayhem. And I love that about this game.
Developed by Croteam and published by the good folks at Devolver Digital, Serious Sam: Tormental is a tale about Sam versus a demigod named Mental. To defeat him, Sam will have to travel into Mental’s very own mind.
Better yet, the full release of the game adds a new area called The Fortress. It has superpowered foes and something called Torments, which are special runs with preset weapons and more.
If that wasn’t enough, the game is also getting dozens more perks, weapons, powers and quests to play with, and even a new playable character.
The only bad news about Serious Sam: Tormental is that right now it’s only on Steam. It looks like there’s a good possibility it’ll come to some consoles later, but we’ll update you when we have something more concrete to share. In any case, if you enjoy gaming on Steam and love crazy rogue adventures, you have to check out Tormental. Just watch the trailer below and you can thank us later.
