Square Enix Launches A YouTube Channel For Their Soundtracks

Time to face the music.

Video game music is finally being recognized as the artform it truly is. With this in mind, our friends at Square Enix have opened up a YouTube channel dedicated to their catalogue of gaming compositions. They’ve also added them to YouTube Music.

The offerings on YouTube Music are far from slim. There’s already thousands of tracks available, with many more slated to be added in the future. Of course, it almost goes without saying that the various Final Fantasy soundtracks are already there, but fans can expect to also find NieR:Automata and Chrono Trigger tunes.

Their channel too offers up loads of playlists, in addition to a few extra goodies like long-play DJ mix sets. Designed for background play, they’re great to have on while you’re busy working or just want to fill the silence with something more upbeat. Even more fan service is promised in the future, such as music videos for the various tracks and interviews with composers.

Of course, all these offerings are available for the fantastic price of “free”. It does however prevent other content creators from monetizing them, but that hardly seems unfair, now does it?

If it’s the YouTube Music side of things you’re into, put in your airpods and navigate over here to give it a listen. Check out the Square Enix Music channel here and take a gander at the introduction movie below. Which soundtrack is your personal favorite? Let us know in the comments section below!
