This Is What Brings The Players To The Yard
Wii Sports may be one of the most surprising hits of all time, and eventually became one of the best selling games of all time. That may have been in part due to being packed in with the Wii, but that went two ways. A lot of people bought a Wii because it came with Wii Sports. This is a series that got a lot of people who traditionally aren’t into video games up off the couch to play. It spawned a successful series but it’s been missing on the Switch over the last five years. Nintendo finally seem to have realized the opportunity they’ve left on the table as Nintendo Switch Sports is set to release April 29th.
At launch Nintendo Switch Sports is set to feature six sports. Tennis, bowling, and chambara sword fighting return from past titles. They’re joined by new sports in soccer, volleyball, and badminton. All of these sports can be taken online for you to play against your friends, even if you can’t be in the same room together.
Nintendo Switch Sports will join Ring Fit Adventure in featuring a leg strap as well. Putting this on lets you kick the ball in soccer. At launch this will only work in a special shootout mode but a later update will enable this for all soccer play. A second free update this fall will add golf.
If you’re looking forward to playing it, you don’t have to wait until April. An online stress test will let players check it out for free from February 18th to the 20th. Be warned though that this will only let you take on random opponents and not play with friends.
