Eat Your Way To Freedom
Sometimes you just have to sit up and pay attention. That happened today during Nintendo’s Indie World presentation when they showed off Dungeon Munchies. Though you could technically just refer to it as a 2D action platformer, it’s so much more, thanks in large part to how strange the game is.
You play a revived corpse in some underground facility. A Necro-Chef named Simmer is going to help you escape. To do so, you’ll need to hunt, cook and eat monsters. The dishes you cook will provide unique abilities to aid in your quest.
The game features about 100 dishes to cook and help establish your own playstyle. If that wasn’t enough, the game is also full of insane humor and eye-catching pixel art. I admit not to being overly familiar with maJAJa, but apparently the game came out first on Steam (as they do). Regardless, if you’re looking for something really unique on consoles, I’d probably check it out.
If you’re fascinated by Dungeon Munchies, here’s the best news. It’s now available on Nintendo Switch for a very inexpensive price point. So what are you waiting for? Work with Simmer and escape your unenviable fate! Or just nom on some monsters for fun.
