Windjammers 2 soars onto consoles and PC next month
If you’re like me, then the wait for Windjammers 2 has been a painful one. Thankfully, we won’t have to hold out too much longer to get our hands on Dotemu’s upcoming sequel to the cult classic 1994 competitive frisbee game. The publisher announced today that Windjammers 2 will arrive on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and Stadia on January 20, 2022. Additionally, it will be available on both Xbox and PC Game Pass services on day one.
To celebrate today’s announcement, Dotemu has released a new trailer for the game. In the footage, we get to see the game’s 10 playable characters in all of their disc-slinging glory, along with the various arena’s you’ll be playing in.
So, want to see what all the fuss is about? Of course, you do! Check out the latest trailer below:
Lastly, if you’re a fan of physical media, then you’re in luck. Windjammers 2 will be getting a physical release via publishers Limited Run Games in the US and Pix’n’Love in Europe. While we don’t know what extra goodies these releases will come with, the publisher says we’ll have fresh details to share soon.
Known as Flying Power Disc in Japan, Windjammers is a fast and frenetic game of frisbee that plays like a fusion of pong and a fighting game. It features a colorful cast of characters, rapid-fire gameplay, and special throws that give each competitor its own distinct flavor. While it first found live on SNK’s Neo Geo in 1994, the title found new life on the PS4 (you can read Mike’s review here) and Vita in 2017, followed by a Switch port in 2018.
So, are you excited to get your hands on the game when it soars onto consoles and PC next month? As someone who still busts out the original on my Neo Geo CDZ pretty often, I know this is one of my most anticipated releases of 2022. Be sure to sound off in the comments below and let us know!
