Rolling A Nat 20 For Chaotic Exposition
Borderlands is no stranger to chaos and wild stories, with Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands being rife with it and blending all the guns and surreal enemies with a DnD-style campaign (called Bunkers and Badasses in the Borderlands universe). While the game’s been winding itself up for around a year now, its latest trailer puts its story front and center and readies us for the next best thing to hit the looter-shooter genre.
The trailer details that the player this time around will be called the Fatemaker, someone that will have great power over the world ruled by fate that the game will be set in. Admittedly this is giving me a few Kingdoms of Amalur vibes, and that is definitely not a bad thing. Two characters, in particular, are on the highlight here: Valentine and Frette, with Valentine coming off as more of a meek, first-time role-player and Frette as the role-player who’s undoubtedly soaking up their role.
There are other little bits of detail scattered in the trailer, like a floating ship, undead warriors, and returning characters like Torgue as, what appears to be, a bard, and Brick, who was featured in the first Bunkers and Badasses DLC from Borderlands 2. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is shaping up to be Borderlands‘ most colorful adventure yet. And while it doesn’t seem to have any impact on the series’ overarching narrative, it’s refreshing in that sense since this is just one big wacky adventure that mixes guns and DnD. Really, what more could you ask for?
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will launch on March 25, 2022, for Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Steam. You can check out the full trailer below.
