Body Horror Never Looked So Fresh
If you’ve never heard of Keiichiro Toyama, you’d probably be more familiar with the masterpiece he created called Silent Hill, a horror staple that’s been slumbering for far too long by now. To say Toyama’s familiar with horror would be an understatement, so while Silent Hill is still resting, he and Bokeh Game Studios have gifted to us the trailer for something really freaky to fill in the void: a game by the name of Slitterhead.
The creatures here are genuinely unsettling and appear to mimic normal humans until it’s time to attack. Their spindly, gory designs bring body horror to a new level, making Necromorphs look like puppies in comparison. It’s still hard to say what genre this is shaping up to be, but it’s definitely looking more action-horror than psychological horror. There’s something going on with soldiers wielding what looks like blood magic, making weapons from it in one part of the teaser trailer. Still, this level of style and fear is definitely looking appropriate for Toyama, and a good sign that horror’s still alive and well in hands like these. There’s no release date yet, nor any sign of what consoles it’ll be available for as of writing this. You can check out the full trailer from the Game Awards down below.
