Party Like Its Launch Day With PlayStation Plus In December

Are You A Supervillain Waiting To Happen?

PlayStation Plus

PlayStation Plus is bringing you three more games in December and the trend of including a PS5 title isn’t stopping. At this point it feels safe to assume that’s a permanent inclusion, though Sony hasn’t confirmed it at this point.

Fans will get access to one of the PS5’s launch titles which received the most mixed reception. Godfall will be available both for PS5 owners and for PS4 owners with the more recent port. Sort of. What we’re actually getting is Godfall: Challenger Edition. This new version, which seems to be exclusively for PlayStation Plus members, won’t feature the game’s recent DLC expansion or even the campaign from the initial game. Instead it focuses on Godfall’s endgame content. To make this more palatable new players can jump right to level 50, getting them ready for the challenge, but it hardly seems like the way to go about this. This feels like an attempt to boost a dying title’s player base while still not wanting to give them the meat of the game. Then again, as someone who played the Godfall campaign, perhaps this is a mercy. The game features fascinating, tactical, methodical combat but it doesn’t do a good job of using it in interesting ways.

If you don’t have a PS5 yet you certainly aren’t being left out. Mortal Shell brings an action RPG experience that offers a lot of similarities to Dark Souls. Our own Francis DiPersio was quite taken with it, saying, “Developer Cold Symmetry has done an excellent job of crafting a worthy homage to the Dark Souls series while adding just enough new ideas to make it feel fresh. Considering a team of only 15 people developed the game, that’s quite the accomplishment. The shell system is a streamlined way of adding plenty of playstyles without forcing you to dump hundreds of points into dozens of stats. And the hardening system is a unique and exciting mechanic that provides plenty of offensive and defensive possibilities. If you have a Dark Souls-shaped hole in your heart, I promise Mortal Shell will climb inside and fill that void quite nicely.”

If you still need something that’s more fun for the whole family, that’s where Lego DC Super-Villains comes in. Create your own villain to team up with the likes of Harley Quinn and The Joker as part of the Injustice League and show them that these Legos mean business. Can you help conquer the world? Only one way to find out.

While you’re grabbing those titles, don’t forget to grab the three VR titles that are still being offered from last month. You still have plenty of time to grab The Persistence, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, and Until You Fall.

He enjoys most genres but is always pulled back to classic RPG's, with his favorite games ever including Suikoden II, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and Phantasy Star IV. Don't worry though, he thinks new games are cool too, with more recent favorites like Hades, Rocket League, and Splatoon 2 stealing hundreds of hours of his life. When he isn't playing games he's often watching classic movies, catching a basketball game, or reading the first twenty pages of a book before getting busy and forgetting about it.
