Smite Heaven With a Vengeance
Way back in the day, it wasn’t uncommon for some videogames to have a more limited production. Until the videogame industry was a known quantity, many companies didn’t want to gamble a ton of money on infinite copies. Nowadays, it’s easy to find most games physically or digitally. So hearing about a game that will be a physical exclusive in limited quantities is somewhat remarkable. Which brings us to Heaven’s Machine.
Funded and published by Super Rare Games as their first ever Super Rare Short, Heaven’s Machine was developed by Glass Revolver, the team behind ITTA. Below is the premise of the eclectic title:
Heaven’s Machine is a chaotic, fast-paced roguelite set on a cosmic train racing towards heaven. Jack wakes up to find themselves at the end of this metal tomb, with no other choice than to pick up a gun, pull the trigger, and run headlong towards the conductor to save their dead loved one.
As Jack, players will travel through a randomly-generated train, grabbing dozens of the 50+ unique items, blasting hundreds of enemies, and battling bizarre monsters. For an extra challenge, battle the demiurge in the unlockable Night Train mode which randomizes all train cars, enemies, bosses, and shops!
Sound good? Here’s some more specifics. If you’re interested in getting a rare physical copy of Heaven’s Machine, here’s the positive news. It’s on sale from today until December 22nd. There’s not a limit to how many quantities will be made, other than the number of orders put in. The game will feature all the usual Super Rare Games touches, such as a vibrant physical box, manual, sticker and outer box. And unlike most games these days, it will NOT be available on the eShop or anywhere other than Super Rare Games. At least for several months. It’ll be digital later on itch.io. So if you’re interested in physical, act accordingly.
