Star Ocean Returns Like A Divine Force

Coming In 2022

Star Ocean: The Divine Force

Fans of Square Enix’s Star Ocean series got what they’ve been hoping for during today’s Sony State of Play. There the latest game in the series, Star Ocean: The Divine Force, was revealed.

The first Star Ocean game since 2016’s Integrity and Faithlessness, the dual protagonist system will return to put you on two different paths. You’ll have many characters available to you as you challenge the Pangalactic Federation Fleet, once a force for good who now assimilate planets into the federation against their will. The entire fate of the universe will be in your hands.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force

Not everything is the same as in the series’ past games. Combat takes place on the same field you explore now and you can take to the skies and fly around. The first trailer showed off huge vistas, and futuristic cities for players to explore. A few performance hitches were noticeable throughout but there’s still plenty of time for that to be cleaned up.

Don’t worry fans, not too much time. Star Ocean: The Divine Force is set to release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2022. You can check out the trailer and judge things for yourself below.

Andrew Thornton
Andrew has been writing about video games for nearly twenty years, contributing to publications such as DarkStation, Games Are Fun, and the E-mpire Ltd. network. He enjoys most genres but is always pulled back to classic RPG's, with his favorite games ever including Suikoden II, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and Phantasy Star IV. Don't worry though, he thinks new games are cool too, with more recent favorites like Hades, Rocket League, and Splatoon 2 stealing hundreds of hours of his life. When he isn't playing games he's often watching classic movies, catching a basketball game, or reading the first twenty pages of a book before getting busy and forgetting about it.
