Get Away In Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise

Get A Job Slacker!

Happy Home Paradise

Animal Crossing fans have been begging Nintendo for more content now for a year and a half. While it took its time getting here, this morning they got their wish in a special Animal Crossing Direct. Fans will get plenty of free updates, but those willing to pay will get even more. The Happy Home Paradise expansion for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is coming November 5th for $24.99. It seems to be a spiritual successor to Happy Home Designer on the 3DS.

This is a pretty feature packed expansion. The main portion of the game revolves around you being hired by Paradise Planning Resort to design vacation homes. You’ll travel to a separate series of islands and meet with clients to find out what their dream vacation home looks like. With that information you’ll use some items they picked out and a lot more of your choice to design the best home for them. You can even recommend multiple visitors stay together. Just helping people make friends? Or do I hear matchmaker?

You’ll choose a lot more options too. Pick which of the islands in this group of them will be the best fit. Design the outside of the home with options like fencing, furniture, and trees. (You can’t customize the terrain here)

Customizing these homes comes with a variety of new options too. You can now customize the height of counters, or even build partition walls to split rooms up. Support pillars give your room a cool look and you can customize the lighting and soundscape of the home. All of these options will be available for you to use on your home island as well. New free updates to the game such as light fixtures also are a part of Happy Home Paradise.

Happy Home Paradise

You won’t be working for free. You’ll be paid in a new currency, Poki. This money is used to purchase rare furniture items available on these islands. New items unlock over time and you can use new items to help customize visitor homes.

Over time you’ll have more things to design as well. The main island has empty buildings, letting you create your own schools, hospitals, and more. Residents of your own island may stop by too. Eventually they might even ask you to redesign their homes back on your island as well. You can revisit the buildings you make and even share them online.

Happy Home Paradise

If you don’t feel like paying $24.99 for the update, there’s one alternative. It will be included in the Nintendo Switch Expansion Pass, also coming November 5th. If you’re interested in Happy Home Paradise, that might help ease the sting of how much that expansion costs. Check out the direct to see more below.
