Strictly Limited Games Conjures Limited Physical Release For Cotton Guardian Force Saturn Tribute

Get It While You Can

For years the Sega Saturn has been a black sheep. Releasing between the hugely popular Sega Genesis and the cult favorite Sega Dreamcast, it was easy to forget. That’s a shame because a ton of great games released on the Saturn. Strictly Limited Games are helping to remind fans of a few of them with the Cotton Guardian Force Saturn Tribute for the Nintendo Switch and PS4.

This collection, featuring three games available now in digital form, will be available to pre-order on October 17th at 12:00 AM CEST via the Strictly Limited Games store.

Fans will have two options to choose from. A Limited Edition retailing for 39.99€ gets you a pretty basic physical copy, though it comes with a manual which certainly isn’t common nowadays. If you want something a bit fancier though, there’s also a Collector’s Edition available for 69.99€. On top of the physical copy and manual this version comes with all kinds of goodies. You’ll get a Collector’s Edition box with a magnetic latch. A hardcover art book and reversible poster. Three arcade flyers and all three original soundtracks are included. An exclusive yunomi cup, a Cotton tea cup figure, ten character cards, a Guardian Force enamel pin, three marquee stickers, and a large sticker set round out the collection. This feels like everything a Cotton fan could hope for.

Featuring three great Saturn shooters, you’ll have plenty to keep you busy. Cotton 2 is of course the sequel to Cotton, a delightful cute ’em up which we reviewed the remake of recently. Cotton Boomerang meanwhile is a sort of remix of the title, offering new challenges for fans. Guardian Force may feel slightly out of place with the other two titles initially, but this fast paced side scrolling shooter was developed by the team at Success as well. We aren’t going to complain about these systems getting another classic SHMUP.

You can check out the digital releases for these titles now, or pre-order these physical editions starting in two days from Strictly Limited Games. Check out a trailer for these releases below.

Andrew has been writing about video games for nearly twenty years, contributing to publications such as DarkStation, Games Are Fun, and the E-mpire Ltd. network. He enjoys most genres but is always pulled back to classic RPG's, with his favorite games ever including Suikoden II, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and Phantasy Star IV. Don't worry though, he thinks new games are cool too, with more recent favorites like Hades, Rocket League, and Splatoon 2 stealing hundreds of hours of his life. When he isn't playing games he's often watching classic movies, catching a basketball game, or reading the first twenty pages of a book before getting busy and forgetting about it.
