Brighter Leaves and Better Games
Perhaps you thought that the video game releases were a bit thin right now. And while I’d heartily disagree, there’s plenty more on the horizon thanks to eastasiasoft. Their new EAS Fall Showcase features their most expansive trailer yet, including a ton of genres represented. Those genres are horror, sports, Shmups, Metroidvanias, beat ’em ups, puzzles, platformers and much more. There’s 18 games total, all coming out either in the next couple months or soon thereafter.
For convenience, I’m going to list the EAS Fall Showcase titles alphabetically. I’ll also clue you in on what consoles they’re coming out for. You can find out more details below, and stick around for the EAS Fall Showcase 15 minute trailer at the very end.
Here’s the EAS Fall Showcase games included in the trailer – 20 Bunnies (PS4/PS5), 20 Ladies (Switch), 890B (PC, Switch, PS4, Xbox One), Booble Hentai (Switch), Breakneck City (Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S), Crazy Gravity (Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S), Demoniaca: Everlasting Night (Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S), Drizzlepath: Deja Vu (Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S), Horatio Goes Snowboarding (Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S), Immortus Temporus (Switch, PS4, Xbox One), The Letter: A Horror Visual Novel (Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S), Lucid Cycle (Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S), Mastho is Together (Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S), Pretty Girls Panic! PLUS (Switch, PS4/PS5), Rick Henderson (Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S), Venus: Improbable Dream (Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S), Waifu Discovered 2: Medieval Fantasy (Switch) and Wife Quest (Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S).
Put simply, 20 Bunnies is the sanitized version of 20 Ladies, tweaked for Sony consoles. It’s a platformer where you navigate stages, avoid traps and locate beautiful rabbit waifu hidden all about. If you lose too many hearts, you’ll instantly respawn at the beginning of the stage with your counter reset. Finding all the bunnies without death gets an adorable image at the end of the stage.
Remember everything you just read above? Now replace the cute rabbit waifu with actual waifu, and you’re on the right track. One key difference is this platformer is for different consoles, such as the Nintendo Switch. Otherwise looks to be pretty much the same experience, complete with similar visual assets.
Why fret over our current climate collapse when you can do so in the future? That’s what 890B is about. You control Noah, a scientist whose job it is to find a new habitable planet similar to our own. Explore a lab, find items and solve plenty of puzzles. Your decisions will affect the ending you get, as well as whether or not the citizens of Earth are saved.
What if Bust a Move had silly puns and some naughty content? That’s exactly what Booble Hentai is about. If it were a platformer, it’d be called Booble Bobble. But as a puzzle game, it’s all about lining up your shots and matching sets of colored balls to win. Hitting 3 or more of the same color will cause them to come tumbling down, but you need to act fast. The ceiling is gradually falling down, and will crush you if you’re not quick!
How about a beat ’em up set in a old school style with funky low key graphics? That’s what Breakneck City is all about. Play as Sidney Flintlock and Justine Jacobs, and wallop street gangs. Use items, landmarks and all sorts of weapons to punish these hooligans. Relive the 90’s in this breath of fresh air.
This next game is for fans of tricky platforming. Gravity can be your worst enemy but you can also use it to your advantage. Flip it around and navigate all sorts of unearthly hazards. Your ultimate goal is to energize your rocket and get back home in this brain-teasing adventure.
Demoniaca: Everlasting Night
Demoniaca is a Gothic Metroidvania with a lot of style. It’s been on my personal radar for a while, so it should be fun to see how it plays. Features frenetic combat, seductive style and all sorts of demonic environments to explore.
Drizzlepath: Deja Vu
Explore a vast and mysterious realm. Find the truth of your existence and navigate echoes of past lives. This is reimagining of the developer’s first game, a standalone title that can be enjoyed by any type of gamer.
Horatio Goes Snowboarding
Horatio Goes Snowboarding was inspired by arcade games of yore. It’s straightforward and addictive, and is focused on thrilling gameplay without any real story or complex gameplay mechanics. Start each run with a ton of cash and hire a board. Make it to the chopper while avoiding traffic along the way. Then it’s time to snowboard down a treacherous mountain!
Fans of speedrunning and puzzles should enjoy this next game. Immortus Temporus was made for those that love to hone their skills and work for the best possible time. Trial and error and determination will set you on the right path. Each stage can be beat plenty of ways. But remember, your progress will remain so long as you don’t run out the clock. So take risks to go for the gold.
The Letter: A Horror Visual Novel
This game is the tale of 7 people that have fallen prey to a horrible curse. They must work against it and against their own flawed human nature. It’s a very interactive horror game inspired by Asian horror films. Add a branching narrative, and you have a very promising game.
Travel into the world of dreams with this absurdist adventure. Explore concepts that lie just outside your comprehension, solve puzzles without a clear purpose, and journey through shifting and strange landscapes. And maybe you’ll even discern whether there’s any meaning to what you’re experiencing.
Mastho is Together
Sure, you’ve played lots of platformers. But have you played any where you’re a marshmallow? That’s the case in Mastho is Together. Precision jumps will be required, as well as wall jumps and all sorts of feats of derring-do. Complete with 40 something levels full of mayhem, and no HUD or load times to worry about.
Pretty Girls Panic! PLUS
Dodge foes, gain control of the board and win. Capture territory in a genre popularized by Japanese arcades. And while you’re at it, reveal the pictures of several beautiful women waiting to be uncovered.
How about a 16-bit Shump with endless replayability? This endless horizontal scrolling Shmup is exactly that. Twitch away and enjoy the pumping music as you play through Rick Henderson.
Venus: Improbable Dream
Kakeru was born with a hideous birth defect that causes anxiety and depression. When he’s put in an after-school club to coax him out of his shell, a new world opens up. He meets Fujiwara Haruka, a disabled girl that’s shy but gifted. Together they will work together to move past their limitations.
Waifu Discovered 2: Medieval Fantasy
Play the sequel to Waifu Uncovered, a Shmup full of beautiful women. In Waifu Discovered 2, you’ll fight against a powerful curse and destroy evil clothing inhabited by spirits. Play as a variety of animal pilots and use upgrades to make your way through stages. Fight powerful bosses and enjoy several modes, including a full gallery.
Lastly we have a humorous and naughty action platformer. Play as former warrior Mia and set off to battle monster girls that keep kidnapping your husband! Explore a vast world in the vibrant platformer, slashing your way through enemies and hazardous environments.
