Game Pass

The big news here has to be Back 4 Blood. Launching day one on Game Pass, this spiritual successor to the Left 4 Dead series has a lot of fans excited. It will be a day one launch on Game Pass.

A few other titles will be launching day one. I know I’m excited to check out The Good Life, the latest game from Swery. Billed as a “debt repayment RPG”, this one promises to be as unique as most of his games are.

We’ll also get The Riftbreaker on day one. A base building mech title, its interesting to see it only coming to Xbox Series X|S players. As more games leave the last generation behind, I imagine we’ll see this distinction become more common.

Of course a game not being day one doesn’t mean it isn’t worth playing. Destiny fans who haven’t purchased the Beyond Light expansion on PC will undoubtedly love diving into that new content. The Procession to Calvary invoking the Monty Python name has this adventure game fan intrigued as well.

A few new games hit the service over the last week or so as well thanks to surprise announcements around the Tokyo Game Show. If you’ve been looking forward to trying out Dandy Ace, Marvel’s Avengers (Our Review), AI: The Somnium Files, or Scarlet Nexus (Our Review), subscribers can do so now.

While a new month means new games to play, it also means saying goodbye to some favorites as well. The following games will be leaving the service October 15th. If you’re interested but having had them stuck in the backlog, now’s the best time to play them. If you won’t get to them by then though, you can purchase them still with a 20% discount until the 15th.

Gonner2 (Cloud, Console, PC)

Heave Ho (PC)

Katana Zero (Cloud, Console, PC) (Our Review)

Scourgebringer (Cloud, Console, PC) (Our Review)

Tales of Vesperia HD (Console, PC)

The Swords of Ditto (PC) (Our Review)

Andrew has been writing about video games for nearly twenty years, contributing to publications such as DarkStation, Games Are Fun, and the E-mpire Ltd. network. He enjoys most genres but is always pulled back to classic RPG's, with his favorite games ever including Suikoden II, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and Phantasy Star IV. Don't worry though, he thinks new games are cool too, with more recent favorites like Hades, Rocket League, and Splatoon 2 stealing hundreds of hours of his life. When he isn't playing games he's often watching classic movies, catching a basketball game, or reading the first twenty pages of a book before getting busy and forgetting about it.
