Sony Welcomes Bluepoint Games To The Family

A Long Time Coming

Bluepoint

Sony continues to add new studios as the gaming industry’s development arms race continues. Their latest acquisition comes in the form of Bluepoint Games.

This one can hardly feel like a surprise. A leaked image a few months ago when Sony announced the acquisition of Housemarque made this announcement feel like an inevitability. Still, its nice to finally have confirmation.

Bluepoint

This may not change much for the studio. Sony and Bluepoint have partnered together for years, churning out a series of hit remakes and remasters. After working on the Uncharted remasters for PS4, they built the PS4 remake of Shadow of the Colossus before receiving further acclaim for their PS5 launch remake of Demon’s Souls. In fact, outside of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and the Xbox 360 port of Titanfall all of their work has been done for Sony. Rumors suggest that their next title may be an original property, though time will tell.

For now, check out a nice tribute Sony put together to celebrate Bluepoint being invited to the family reunion.

Andrew Thornton
Andrew has been writing about video games for nearly twenty years, contributing to publications such as DarkStation, Games Are Fun, and the E-mpire Ltd. network. He enjoys most genres but is always pulled back to classic RPG's, with his favorite games ever including Suikoden II, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and Phantasy Star IV. Don't worry though, he thinks new games are cool too, with more recent favorites like Hades, Rocket League, and Splatoon 2 stealing hundreds of hours of his life. When he isn't playing games he's often watching classic movies, catching a basketball game, or reading the first twenty pages of a book before getting busy and forgetting about it.
