Strange Adventures Await in Echo Generation
Today marks some news I’ve been hoping to share for some time. Cococucumber, the talented indie team behind such titles as Riverbond and Planet of the Eyes, has a new game on the horizon. It’s a quirky, turn-based, paranormal RPG called Echo Generation. And as of today, I can confirm it’s coming to all things Xbox and PC, including Xbox Game Pass, this October 21st!
That may not sound exciting if you’re unfamiliar with the game, or if you inexplicably aren’t a fan of turn-based games. But for everybody else, I can promise Echo Generation should be an enjoyable adventure. I had the privilege of demoing it earlier, and if the final game is anything like that small slice, the final release should be a delicious cake of weirdness.
One of the cooler aspects of the game is how it uses voxel-based graphics. While there’s plenty of games that don’t use voxels well, Cococucumber are practically Voxel experts. To say they’re skillful with them is like saying a Lego Master plays with plastic bricks. It hardly does their artistry justice, which you can see when you catch the trailer below.
As for Echo Generation’s plot, it’s a Spielbergian tale of a small, calm town gone suddenly weird. The demo gave me all sorts of pleasant Earthbound vibes, and the gameplay was reminiscent of the likes of Super Mario RPG. Honestly, my only small complaint about this upcoming adventure is it’s not coming to more consoles. But if you’re an Xbox owner, you have a lot to look forward to.
Honestly, all my hype can’t do Echo Generation justice. You can see part of why I’m excited in the trailer below. And stay tuned to HPP for more news about unique games from the folks at Cococucumber!
