Ghostrunner Leaps To PS5 And Xbox Series X|S Today

Free Upgrade Path Available

Its always nice when games get a next generation upgrade. Recent titles can often perform far better with the extra horsepower of the Xbox Series X|S or PS5. Its even better when those upgrades are available for free to existing owners. That’s thankfully the case for Ghostrunner, launching on those platforms today.

This neon soaked cyberpunk parkour title launched on PS4, Xbox One, and PC last October so think of this like a slightly early birthday gift for the game. It has since been released on other platforms like Nintendo Switch, and even Amazon Luna.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions retail for $29.99 and will be available physically. Upgrades to these versions include fidelity mode, which includes raytracing, 4K/120 FPS support, and haptic feedback making use of the Dualsense on PS5. New and returning players will also find a ton of content released after the game’s initial launch included. Modes like Kill Run which is basically time trial, or a photo mode, and even a roguelite inspired mode called Wave Mode. Those needing a bit of help will find a new Assist Mode as well.

Of course if you already own the PS4 and Xbox One versions, you won’t pay anything. Just download the upgrade, as long as you own the right system. Xbox Series X|S owners who bought it on PS4 originally or PS5 owners who grabbed it on Xbox One will be out of luck. That’s one that publishers haven’t figured out quite yet.

He enjoys most genres but is always pulled back to classic RPG's, with his favorite games ever including Suikoden II, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and Phantasy Star IV. Don't worry though, he thinks new games are cool too, with more recent favorites like Hades, Rocket League, and Splatoon 2 stealing hundreds of hours of his life. When he isn't playing games he's often watching classic movies, catching a basketball game, or reading the first twenty pages of a book before getting busy and forgetting about it.
