Come For The 360 Games
Microsoft this morning revealed their latest batch of Games With Gold, set to release throughout October. While no one will likely call this a murderer’s row of titles, those looking to get into the Halloween spirit will find a few highlights.
Castlevania seems to be on a role this month. With the Castlevania Advance Collection releasing just a few days ago, we were ready to call it a good month for the series. Castlevania: Harmony of Despair will be returning to a bit of prominence as well though. Available to download from October 1st to October 15th, this multiplayer focused title provided a unique twist on the series when it released in 2010. You can play as fan favorite characters like Soma Cruz, Alucard, and Jonathan Morris. Many other characters are available for download as well.
If you’re looking for something with just a bit more of a horror feel, you could do a lot worse than Resident Evil: Code Veronica X. Available to download from October 16th to October 31st, this one has Claire Redfield looking to track down her brother Chris after the events of Resident Evil 2. Of course things go wrong and zombies get involved. We’re talking about a Resident Evil game here. Originally released all the way back on the Dreamcast back in 2000, Code Veronica has appeared on a ton of platforms since. It’s been available on 360 since 2011 but never as part of Games With Gold until now.
If you’re looking for this month’s Xbox One games, they’re here, though they appear a tad less thematic. Described as a rhythm action rail shooter, Aaero gives me major Rez/Child of Eden/Thumper vibes. That’s a good thing. This is one I’ll be making sure to check out. It will be available for download from October 1st to the 31st.
Hover meanwhile is another in a long line of games inspired by Jet Set Radio. Our own Francis DiPersio checked it out in 2018 and had some fun, though he recommended waiting for a sale. While, Games With Gold is as good as any sale so maybe the time has come. Check out our review of the game for more details. It will be available from October 16th to November 15th.
There’s still time to check out several of last month’s titles, like Mulaka and Samurai Shodown II, as well. Check out a video highlighting all of these Games With Gold below and make sure to grab them when they’re available.
