Climb the Tower This October
This October DANGEN Entertainment is breathing new life into the tactical genre with a title we’ve covered previously at HPP. They’re bringing Evertried to PC, Switch, PS4 and Xbox One this October 21st. For those too impatient to wait, Evertried is also opening pre-orders today for Nintendo and Microsoft. Additionally, a demo will be available during the Tokyo Game Show. Below is a quick description of the game premise:
Without a clear memory of what happened, you know one thing: You did not prove your worth while alive. Through your first steps in The Tower, you are faced with a mindless beast, a wolf-like creature that looks aggressive and confused. As it rushes to attack you, you find an eerie Scythe and slay the beast where it stood. You feel a strange connection to your memories getting back. The weight of the weapon. The cold decision on how to wield it. There is no doubt: You were a warrior in your past life.
Developed by Lunic Games, Evertried is the tale of a fallen warrior climbing a mysterious tower to restore his memories. Certainly a familiar premise, but what’s unique is how everything is structured. Each floor of the tower will be a puzzle of sorts, forcing strategic placement and movement. Also interesting is that when the player moves, so does everything else on that floor. So you’ll have to really get good at predicting the flow of battle.
Perhaps what has me most excited about Evertried is the art style. Presented with a decidedly retro focus, it’s nevertheless colorful and detailed. Everything has a lot of personality as well. Coupled with a dramatic soundtrack, they might have something special.
You can see what I mean in the release trailer below. And be sure to stay tuned to HPP for more news from DANGEN Entertainment.
