Death Is Calling Us Soon
We’ve been covering news of Death’s Gambit: Afterlife for a few months now. And that’s mostly cause it looks amazing and is a Metroidvania. Despite my personal lack of familiarity with the game, it looks like developer White Rabbit is improving every aspect of it. Which is especially exciting today, since Serenity Forge revealed it’s coming digitally on September 30th!
Below are some reasons you should already be excited about the upcoming Metroidvania:
Revealed during E3 this summer, Death’s Gambit: Afterlife is a 2D action metroidvania with slick combat that requires precision from its players to master its expansive combat options. Serenity Forge and White Rabbit’s definitive version for the game adds 10 new levels, 6 new boss fights, 22 new weapons, 100 talents, skills, storylines, cinematics, gameplay enhancements and much more to make it the most robust and comprehensive edition of the game to date.
Not only is this the first time Death’s Gambit is available on a Nintendo console, it also marks another milestone. Death’s Gambit: Afterlife is only the 2nd time Serenity Forge is distributing a game physically. The first title was Doki Doki Literature Club. Sometime in early 2022, Death’s Gambit: Afterlife will get the physical treatment. It’ll go for $34.99, and includes such goodies as a two-sided poster and character compendium. Or if you prefer the merch and not the physical game, you’ll find options on the Serenity Forge storefront.
That’s all great news, especially for fans of lush, dark Metroidvanias. You can check out the reveal trailer below for more info. And be sure to stay tuned to HPP for more exciting news from the folks at Serenity Forge.
