Sounds Pretty Sweet
Anthony Mackie has all the luck lately. After recently being named Captain America, he’s now set to start in Sony’s in development Twisted Metal series.
According to a report from Deadline, Mackie will star as John Doe, a milkman offered a chance to change his life if he can survive a trip across the country and loads of vehicular combat. Not to mention a certain clown in an ice cream truck long associated with the series.
The Twisted Metal series has big names attached beyond Mackie. Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are on board as Executive Producers. So is Cobra Kai writer Michael Jonathan Smith who will also write the series. A certain Lego Batman, Will Arnett, is also on board to produce through his production company Electric Avenue. Could he find a role in the final product? I could definitely see him tearing around, especially if they establish the comedic tone the series will be targeting.
Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, said about the hiring, “We’re thrilled to have Anthony Mackie on board. His ability to blend comedy, action and drama is perfect for the Twisted world we’re creating.”
With rumors about a new Twisted Metal title popping up recently, some dots seem to be connecting. A big TV push would be a perfect time to try reviving the once huge series which has sat dormant since 2012’s Twisted Metal. Check out a trailer for that one below. We’ll be sure to bring you any future details about this project.
