Get ready to be transported to a faraway place—a land where monsters rule!
Koei Tecmo’s Monster Rancher is a wonderful series about raising and battling monsters. It’s also a series that, unfortunately, died over a decade ago. It seems, however, that Koei Tecmo is keen on bringing it back, as they have officially announced that Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX is on its way!
As the name implies, Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX is a two-in-one game consisting of the first two Monster Rancher titles. That’s not all, though! Being the “DX” version, players can also expect some extra goodies to be included. Not only will both games have additional save slots, Freeze slots, and a Monster Hall of Fame—content previously exclusive to the Japanese version of the games—but a memo feature, rankings for random battles, and even a high-speed mode!
“But what about using CDs to generate monsters” I hear you asking? Well, they’ve got that figured out, too, apparently. Koei Tecmo has confirmed that, in lieu of letting players generate monsters via CDs, a “CD database” feature will be included. This database will allow players to look up specific CDs, and generate monsters based on the selected CD.
Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX is slated to release on December 9 for Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, and Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch). Did you play these games when they originally released on PlayStation? Are you excited to jump back in? Let us know in the comments below!
