Monster Hunter Rise’s Capcom Collab 3 kicks off on August 27, lets players don Akuma Hunter Layered Armor
If you’ve ever wanted to Hadouken a Crimson Glow Valstrax in the face, you’re in luck. Capcom has announced that the Satsui no Hado-wielding martial artist Akuma will join Monster Hunter Rise as part of its third Capcom collaboration.
The Capcom Collab 3 Event Quest for Monster Hunter Rise kicks off this Friday, August 27. Those who complete the event will receive the “Akuma” Hunter layered armor set. Not only does this alter your character’s voice and appearance, but it also transforms your kunai attacks into some of his signature moves. For example, equipping a sword and shield will allow Akuma to punch and kick your prey, while Silkbind attacks unleash the Goshoryuken and Tatsumaki Zankukyaku. Additionally, kunai attacks will cause Akuma to hurl his Gohadoken and the Zanku Hadoken.
To celebrate the announcement, Capcom put out a new trailer showcasing Akuma in action. In the footage, we get a glimpse of several of his iconic abilities, including the Shoryuken, Tatsumaki Zankukyaku, and more.

Capcom has been steadily supporting Monster Hunter Rise with exciting updates to keep players engaged. The most recent collaboration event, which kicked off on July 30, rewarded players who completed the quest with a layered armor set to make their Palamute look like Amaterasu from Okami.
Kenny awarded the game a near-perfect score in our review earlier this year, saying “Regardless of what charms the Monster Hunter games of the past might have to offer, they’re no match for Rise‘s huge jump in overall quality and polish. I’m sure that Capcom will make a new Monster Hunter game someday and, when they do, maybe it will dethrone this one. But, until that time comes, Rise will be sitting at the top—and I’m very happy that it’s there.”
Monster Hunter Rise is now available for the Nintendo Switch and will be making its way to PC early next year.
