April O’Neil, Reporting From the Battlefield!
Like most children of a certain era, I grew up loving the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Admittedly, there’s been many different versions over the years, and some questionable movies. But none of that diminishes the giddy childhood wonder that TMNT brings. Especially when it’s being handled by folks who understand its appeal. Which brings us to news today from Gamescom about TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge.
Dotemu and developer Tribute Games have revealed that none other than reporter April O’Neil is joining the turtles. She’s a fully playable character in Shredder’s Revenge, which comes to PC and Switch in 2022. Admittedly, she’s not the first character that jumps to mind when thinking of additional fighters. But read the following blurb to see how she plays in the game:
Sporting her iconic yellow jumpsuit and trusty reporting gear, April unleashes flurries of hits against the Foot Clan’s devious soldiers via new gameplay. Her agility and far-reaching slide kicks help her close in on targets quickly, and she once again proves the turtles can rely on her unwavering support, even through slices of pizza.
I honestly had my doubts, but watching her in action, I’m convinced including April is a smart move. While it’s not clear yet if April is the only extra playable character in Shredder’s Revenge, I’m sure we’ll learn more later on. And to see why I’m now so excited about April in TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, just watch her reveal trailer below!
