New Releases Headline Late August’s Game Pass Additions

Something New, And Something Else New

new releases

We’re always excited when a new slate of Game Pass titles are revealed. Enjoying old favorites again, such as when Microsoft revealed that Crimson Skies was joining the service, can be great. There’s nothing quite like a brand new game though. That’s why this newest batch of games are so exciting. Five of the nine titles coming to the service over the next couple of weeks are new releases hitting on day one. Let’s check out the list.

Humankind (PC) – Available Today

Need For Speed Heat (Cloud) (EA Play) – Available Today

Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Cloud) (EA Play) – Available Today

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (Cloud) (EA Play) – Available Today

new releases

Recompile (Cloud, Console, PC) – August 19th

Train Sim World 2 (Cloud, Console, PC) – August 19th

Twelve Minutes (Cloud, Console, PC) – August 19th

Psychonauts 2 (Cloud, Console, PC) – August 25th

Myst (Cloud, Console, PC) – August 26th

That’s a lot of games to play and includes some big names. Five of those games are brand new releases, including the much anticipated Psychonauts 2 and Twelve Minutes. Psychonauts 2 is the long awaited sequel to the 2005 platformer from the team at Double Fine. You’ll team up with Raz again in an all new adventure into people’s minds. Due to preexisting agreements it is still coming to other platforms as well, but due to Microsoft’s acquisition of Double Fine who knows about any future games in the series.

Twelve Minutes meanwhile is a time loop game where you need to stop a tragedy in only, well, twelve minutes. With a voice cast including Willem Dafoe, Daisy Ridley and James McAvoy, this one has definite star power. Check out our coverage of the game from E3.

A few smaller new releases are also hitting day one. Create your own civilization in strategy game Humankind, available today. That one’s only on PC. Xbox fans only have to wait two days for Recompile, a Metroidvania inspired hacking adventure. Also, Myst is coming to Xbox and will be available day one. Because Myst has to come to every platform.

Beyond that, three games from EA Play are available today for cloud gaming. They were already available on other platforms but you’ll now be able to play Need for Speed Heat, Star Wars Battlefront 2, or Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on your phone or tablet if that’s what you’re into. There’s also Train Sim World 2 coming to all platforms of Game pass on August 19th. If you’re into trains. No judgment, trains are cool.

new releases

If you do play on your phone regularly, the addition of touch controls to ten more games should be exciting. These include the newly released Hades (Our Review), Bloodroots, Farming Simulator 19, Going Under, Need for Speed Heat, Peggle 2, Psychonauts, Wasteland 2 (Our Review), Wasteland 3, and Wasteland Remastered. The addition of Psychonauts could be a great way to catch up before the sequel. Meanwhile, something like Peggle 2 just feels so natural with touch controls.

Are you excited to check out all of these new releases? Let us know and keep an eye out for more coverage of these upcoming releases.
