A Different Platform, A Different Experience
Bloober Team recently announced that their psychological horror game The Medium is coming to PS5 on September 3rd. Launching earlier this year on Xbox consoles and PC, our own Kenny McKee gave the game a 4/5 at launch. PS5 fans excited to see what the fuss is about will have some unique experiences to enjoy as well.
The team behind The Medium have gone all in on supporting the PS5’s DualSense controller. With a variety of options not available on other platforms, this should help you feel the horror more than ever.
Adaptive triggers provide extra feedback and The Medium will use those to help show the power of your spirit blast. The longer you hold the trigger down, the less tension you’ll feel.
With strong haptic support, the DualSense can really immerse you. At times in The Medium you have to hide from spirits too powerful to challenge. Holding your breath helps to keep you hidden and now the controller will pulse faster and faster as you run out of breath. You’ll also be able to feel when creatures hit your spirit shield.
Optional touch and motion controls allow you to examine objects and your environment. Don’t worry if you prefer traditional joystick control however. It’s still an option.
The DualSense speaker will simulate your variety of tools while the controller’s lightbar imitates your flashlight, blinking as enemies close in.
If all of that sounds interesting, check out the trailer below breaking this all down. You’ll be able to experience this and more when The Medium hits PS5 on September 3rd. It is available to pre-order now and fans who do so with PlayStation Plus will get a 10% discount.
