Nintendo Download for 8/5/21

August Begins Here

Nintendo Download | Badland GOTY Edition

Not only is the Nintendo Download for 8/5/21 a great start for August, it’s a great week for indies. All the featured titles today are from promising looking indie teams, with a broad range of genres. Better yet, there’s a fun event for another popular game, as well as the usual fun and games. So let’s start with a title that takes us into the world of the subconscious.

Into Dreams

Nintendo Download | Dreamscaper

Dreamscaper is a game I’ve been following for a while. So it’s really exciting that it’s out now on most all consoles, including Switch! You’ll help Cassidy fight depression in a very literal fashion. Make friends, forge bonds, and learn how to defeat your nightmares. If you’re a fan of fun rogue adventures, you definitely want to check this one out. Next up, for those that enjoy remade platformers, there’s BADLAND: GOTY Edition. Work your way through a lush, hand drawn world, and try to survive in the process. Finally, the last featured title is one I had only heard about at this year’s E3. Dodgeball Academia isn’t normally my cup of tea. But with vibrant artwork, crazy mechanics and lots of heart, it has the potential to be a great indie. Next, let’s check out an event for Monster Hunter.

  • Rise to the Challenge and Join the Hunt – Attention MONSTER HUNTER fans! My Nintendo is giving away an epic MONSTER HUNTER prize pack to 10 lucky winners in the My Nintendo Ultimate MONSTER HUNTER amiibo Sweepstakes #1 – enter today! Contestants who enter by Aug. 7 will have the chance to win 15 MONSTER HUNTER amiibo figures and five 11” x 17” MONSTER HUNTER RISE posters.

Now, we are gonna move onto the Game Guide sales in a moment. But first, this Nintendo Download features some multiplayer game sales! First our friends at Devolver Digital have a sale lasting from today until 8/11. Some of their more noteworthy titles include the following – Broforce, Enter the Gungeon, Heave Ho, Mother Russia Bleeds and The Swords of Ditto: Mormo’s Curse.

Something Weird This Way Comes

Nintendo Download | Enter Digiton

But that’s not all! There’s also the Multiplayer Mayhem Sale. Not only does this feature a bunch of great games, but buying something during the event provides extra Gold Points for My Nintendo. Like the previous sale, this one only lasts until 8/11. Here’s some highlights – Fire Emblem Warriors, Lumines Remastered, Mario Tennis Aces, Overcooked! All You Can Eat, River City Girls, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World – Complete Edition, Splatoon 2, Stardew Valley, TowerFall and Wargroove. You can check out both of these special sales by clicking here.

Play Ball!

Now, it wouldn’t be a proper Nintendo Download without some standard sales. So let’s check out a couple handfuls, shall we? First some for the thrifty minded. For a weird looking Metroidvania, try Enter Digiton: Heart of Corruption for $6.39. For a new take on a classic, try Jetboard Joust for only $6.99. To slay some horrifying monsters, try Devil Slayer Raksasi for $9.99. For cute co-op puzzles, try Magic Twins for $9.74. Lastly, for a tremendous discount, try Digerati Best Sellers for only $7.79. That last sale includes 3 games in it, just FYI.

Don’t You Run From Savings

Nintendo Download | Castle of Pixel Skulls

To mow down some monsters, look no further than Trigger Witch for $13.49. For stealth adventures, try El Hijo – A Wild West Tale for $13.99. Or to make love and explore a strange world, try Haven for $19.99. For a time bending Metroidvania, try Touhou Luna Nights for $14.39. And to explore a bizarre world, try PHOGS! for only $17.49.

Ethereal Digital Goodies

Nintendo Download | We Know the Devil

Before we close out this Nintendo Download, how about some cool digital titles? Retro fans can rejoice over the following – Arcade Archives NOVA2001, Demons of Asteborg, I.F.O, PICROSS S GENESIS & Master System edition and Spelunker HD Deluxe. For games that require some strategy, try A Monster’s Expedition, Black Book, Doomsday Vault and The Last Survey. For two utterly charming looking games, try Button City and Haven Park. For something new with retro flair, try Castle of Pixel Skulls and Star Hunter DX. To take a chance on a new RPG, there’s Zengeon. Or for a compelling VN, try We Know the Devil. Fans of deduction can get a heaping helping with Ace Attorney Turnabout Collection. And for a wonderful new card game, try Shadowverse: Champion’s Battle!
