Nier: Automata Highlights A Quiet Month For PlayStation Now

Not A Lot Of Games, But Good Ones

Nier: Automata

Three exciting new games will join PlayStation Now in August. While that may not feel like a lot compared to some months, all three are games with significant fans. The highlight has to be Nier: Automata.

Our fourth favorite game of 2017, Nier: Automata is a thrilling adventure. At the time we revealed that placing we said:

“Conceived by the enigmatic Yoko Taro and scored beautifully by Keiichi Okabe, Nier: Automata is a beautiful and compelling investigation in to the underpinnings of our identity as human beings through the echoes of our civilization.”

Magic Missile Avoidance Simulator 2015

That isn’t the only exciting game joining the service this month however. If you’re an RPG fan but want something a little more out there, Undertale is a game you should play. One of the most acclaimed games of the last decade, PlayStation Now subscribers will be able to do so for no additional charge. The game scored a rare 5/5 from us back in 2016. Our review advised:

Undertale is a story worth telling, and re-telling, and re-re-telling. You’d have to be some kind of monster to avoid it.”

Nier: Automata

Strong praise. If you’re less into the RPG side of things, there’s still one option for you this month. Ghostrunner will also join PlayStation Now. We reviewed the Switch version at the time it released and had some issues with that version, but the overall game drew more praise. You can check out our Switch review of the game to get an idea what we liked about the overall game still.

All three games will be available to players tomorrow, August 3rd. Nier: Automata will only be available until November 1st but no end date has been provided for the others. So if you’re going to prioritize one, Nier is the way to go. Are you excited to check out these three games? Let us know in the comments below.

Andrew has been writing about video games for nearly twenty years, contributing to publications such as DarkStation, Games Are Fun, and the E-mpire Ltd. network. He enjoys most genres but is always pulled back to classic RPG's, with his favorite games ever including Suikoden II, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and Phantasy Star IV. Don't worry though, he thinks new games are cool too, with more recent favorites like Hades, Rocket League, and Splatoon 2 stealing hundreds of hours of his life. When he isn't playing games he's often watching classic movies, catching a basketball game, or reading the first twenty pages of a book before getting busy and forgetting about it.
