A New Theatre
Fans of Relic’s Company of Heroes series are in luck. This morning they have announced that Company of Heroes 3 is in development with a pre-alpha preview available today.
Developed by Relic and published by Sega, Company of Heroes has always put you in control of a company during World War II. This time you’ll enter the Mediterranean Theatre. Fight through the mountains of Italy, the deserts of Northern Africa, and a variety of coastal vistas. Each area will require different strategies.
Relic’s Essence Engine allows for next generation destructible environments, letting you create your own paths forward. New dynamic campaign maps are designed to make no two playthroughs alike.
Speaking of that campaign, Relic are promising the largest in the history of the franchise. You’ll also have skirmish and multiplayer modes to provide variety. The preview features part of the campaign but not from the start. That means new players may need a bit of time to get used to the game. Veterans of the series should be able to hop right back in, however.
No release date was shared, but Relic clarified that the game is more than a year from launch. While that wait may seem like a bummer, hopefully the preview will hold you over.
