Nine Minutes More For You To Loop
If you’re not into the new Switch announced this morning, maybe Sony’s latest announcement is more your speed. A new State 0f Play is set for this Thursday. Among thirty minutes of announcements, Sony promised around nine minutes of the upcoming Deathloop.
Things kick off July 8th at 2:00 PM (PT, 5:00 PM EST). Deathloop will certainly not be the only game shown but Sony did pump the brakes on a bit of hype building. They were very up front that this State of Play will not feature Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, or the next PlayStation VR. They will instead focus on indie and third party titles. Whether that means nothing first party will be there or only that they will be limited remains to be seen.
Deathloop is set to launch September 14th. It was originally set for the PS5’s launch window before being pushed back. A PS5 console exclusive, it is in a slightly awkward spot after its publisher, Bethesda, was purchased by Microsoft earlier this year. While it will also hit PC, this leaves Microsoft publishing a game on PS5 which won’t be on the Xbox Series X|S as well. One has to imagine that will change whenever the exclusivity deal expires. For now though, the PS5 is the console to play on.
