Old Friends Not Forgotten
Funko today on Twitter announced a variety of new gaming Pops exclusively available at Gamestop and EB Games. These five figures will be released between now and October and are all available for preorder now.
First up, we have a pair of PlayStation themed Pop figures. It’s always nice to see Sly Cooper get some love. It’s been too long since we’ve seen a new title from him. You can view his figure, my favorite of the lot, above. It releases on June 11th. The same day you’ll be able to grab a figure of Sir Daniel Fortesque, the star of the MediEvil series. We saw a remake of the original title in 2019 but that’s his only appearance in a long time.
These weren’t the only announcements however. Nintendo fans aren’t being left out of the fun. On the same day a new Pokemon Pikachu Waving Diamond figure will release.
If you’re more a fan of Xbox, or even still holding a torch for Sega, you’re in luck too. Pop recently announced a new series of game cover figures which The Witcher 3 will kick off. Now we have new figures for Halo: Combat Evolved and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. All of these should also be available at Gamestop and likely EB Games, though the Halo figure doesn’t specifically mention EB Games. Whether this is just an omission or a sign of something different however we can’t say at this time. The Halo figure will release October 13th while the Sonic 2 one will be available sooner on June 21st.
These both seemed timed to celebrate an anniversary of sorts. As we recently reported, this is Sonic’s 30th anniversary and Sega have plans for him this year. This is also the 20th anniversary of Halo: Combat Evolved. Could the timing of the Halo figure have something to do with Halo Infinite? Hopefully we’ll find out at E3.
What do you think of these gaming Pops? I’m usually not a big Pop collector, but the Sly Cooper figure is calling my name. Let us know what you think below!
