Chicory: A Colorful Tale Releases June 10th

Paint The World In This Colorful Indie

Chicory

Developer FINJI, the team behind such indie hits as Night in the Woods (check out our review of that indie gem!) and Overland, have announced that their latest title Chicory: A Colorful Tale will release June 10th. It will be available on PS4, PS5, PC, and Mac. The PS5 version promises to use the system’s unique features like activities, guided help, and haptic feedback.

Those who enjoy indies have a lot to look forward to here as some familiar faces are involved. Development is led by Greg Lovanov, known for indie hit Wandersong. I’m most excited to hear that Lena Raine composed the soundtrack. Raine is an award winning composer, most known for her work on Celeste and Guild Wars 2. The Celeste soundtrack is one of my favorites in recent years. The soundtrack for Chicory is actually available to listen to now on a variety of platforms. Check it out!

Chicory

When Chicory, a master artist beloved by all who wields a magic paintbrush, vanishes, someone has to do something. You’ll control a dog who happens to be her number one fan, taking up the brush to fill in for her. You can draw on anything you see, allowing you to use your paint to solve puzzles and change the environment. You’ll unlock new abilities as you go which will let you further explore the Picnic Province.

Originally Kickstarted back in 2019, Chicory is finally ready for its exhibition. It’s always nice when a game which was Kickstarted is finished and looks this good. I know I can’t wait to play this colorful tale soon. All sorts of players will get to enjoy it too, as Chicory will launch with English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Brazilian Portuguese, and Russian support.

You can add Chicory: A Colorful Tale to your wishlist now on Steam. FINJI have also released a brand new trailer to go along with this release date announcement. Check it out below.

Andrew has been writing about video games for nearly twenty years, contributing to publications such as DarkStation, Games Are Fun, and the E-mpire Ltd. network. He enjoys most genres but is always pulled back to classic RPG's, with his favorite games ever including Suikoden II, Panzer Dragoon Saga, and Phantasy Star IV. Don't worry though, he thinks new games are cool too, with more recent favorites like Hades, Rocket League, and Splatoon 2 stealing hundreds of hours of his life. When he isn't playing games he's often watching classic movies, catching a basketball game, or reading the first twenty pages of a book before getting busy and forgetting about it.
