Stunning First Gameplay Of Horizon Forbidden West Revealed

New Gear And Mounts Highlight Expanded Combat in Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West

We revealed yesterday that Sony would be holding a State of Play today dedicated to Horizon Forbidden West. Today they revealed fourteen minutes of new gameplay from the highly anticipated title.

The stunning new footage was clearly captured on a PS5. Forbidden West is also coming to PS4 but we might need to wait a bit longer to see that version.

Horizon Forbidden West

We get a lot of exciting new reveals. Enemy raiders riding dinosaur raptors? Sign me up for that. You getting to ride those raptors yourself? Sign me all the way up for that. An underwater section of the trailer left my jaw on the floor. Its almost enough for me to want to check out the PS4 version when it releases, just to see how they pull it off on Sony’s older hardware. Almost.

The footage revealed a variety of new gear. Aloy now has a focus scanner to help her traverse the environment. A pullcaster helps you take to the air quickly. A shieldwing lets you glide down from those heights. You also have a new diving mask to help you navigate underwater environments. It looks like that will come in handy a lot.

Riding the machines looks to be a bigger part of the new game as well. If that means I get to ride a bunch of dinosaur robots, I’m happy.

The sequel to 2017 title Horizon Zero Dawn, Forbidden West takes Aloy to the ruins of San Francisco. A world slowly being overtaken by machines and a terrible blight needs a hero. If she wants to stop this, Aloy will need to fight off the rebels and uncover this game’s mysteries.

I’m looking forward to helping Aloy stop the blight taking over the world as she ventures into the Forbidden West. Are you? We’re still waiting for more details regarding a release date, but Sony has said in the past that Horizon Forbidden West plans to release in 2021. Check out the exciting new footage below.
