Developed by Spike Chunsoft, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc was first released for the PlayStation Portable in 2010. The game’s plot revolves around Hope’s Peak Academy students who are forced to murder each other by a sadistic stuffed bear named Monokuma. Released in 2017, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is the most recent entry in the visual novel franchise, which has gone on to spawn anime and manga adaptations, as well as a free-to-play tech demo Cyber Danganronpa VR: The Class Trial.

Danganronpa 1-2 Reload is a great place to start if you’ve yet to dive into the series. It bundles together the first two games – Dangonronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. For more on the collection, you can read our full Danganronpa 1-2 Reload review
